On Saturday March 5, 2016, (10am-5pm) the Tow Center for Digital Journalism and the Brown Institute for Media Innovation will be hosting the MINDS Innovation Challenge. There will also be a mandatory introductory session on Friday March 4 (5-6pm).
What is the challenge?
How can news agencies find new uses for their content?
What skills are needed for this Innovation Challenge?
<UL>
<LI>Understanding the news/journalism industry</LI>
<LI>Innovative/strategic mindset</LI>
<LI>Basic design or programming skills are a plus</LI>
</UL>
What is the goal? 
To build a prototype or present a new concept using new agencies’ content.
What’s the deliverable on the Innovation Challenge?
A visual concept and presentation explaining the potential of the idea, which groups will present at the <A HREF="http://www.minds-international.com/Site/index.en.html" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MINDS</A> conference in New York City on Monday April 14, 2016.
Who are the participating agencies?

<LI>Press Association</LI>
</UL>
What content will you be working with?
You will have access to text, photo, video APIs and feeds from the AP and the Press Association.
<H3>How does the process work?</H3>
<OL>
<LI>Presentation of challenge and guidelines for the innovation competition</LI>
<LI>Groups are formed</LI>
<LI>Each group pitches initial ideas to mentors + mentors provide support throughout the process.</LI>
<LI>3 finalists to present at MINDS conference at AP in April + MINDS judges select winners</LI>
<LI>Winning team gets prize and certificate</LI>
</OL>
What is the prize?
Winning team gets trip to London for one week and the chance to present at Press Association and AP Headquarters in London! Winners of MINDS Innovation Challenge will also receive a Diploma/Certificate signed by all the agencies.
