Shaping the Future of Education Together.The Open edX virtual conference is a half-day event to bring Open edX practitioners together to share ideas, solutions, and tools for the challenges of upskilling, reskilling and delivering life-long learning.This smaller format event will feature a thought leader keynote, eight practical talks, and plenty of unstructured spaces for direct connections with other attendees.We couldn’t hold our traditional three-day conference in 2020.  This year, we’re taking advantage of the virtual format to bring the community together in a different way. This year, we’ll be moving from the bucolic New England autumn to a beautiful Bay Area summer for 2016’s conference, <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://con.openedx.org" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Open edX: Education Shared</A>.
Join us June 14th to 17th to share, learn, discuss, innovate and celebrate all things Open edX!

Location
Stanford has been a supporter of the Open edX initiative since day zero. The Stanford team was instrumental in the open-source release of the edX platform, and continues to contribute their code, effort, and enthusiasm to the project.
Home to thousands of success stories in technological innovation, the Bay Area embodies the spirit that drives edX and the Open edX community to achieve great new things. Stanford University’s campus is in Stanford, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, almost equidistant between two major airports: just over 25 miles south of San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and just under 25 miles north of Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).
Stanford is easily accessible by Caltrain, part of the Bay Area public transportation network, using a connector service from either airport (SFO to BART to Caltrain, or SJC to VTA Flyer to Caltrain).
Hotels
We have <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://open.edx.org/open-edx-con-2016-hotel-information" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">reserved a block of rooms</A> at the Sheraton Palo Alto for a special discounted conference rate. There are a large number of <A TARGET="_blank" HREF="https://open.edx.org/open-edx-con-2016-hotel-information#other-options" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">other accomodation options</A> in the Stanford area as well. 
Why make the move from October to June? This time of year allows for more space and flexibility on campus. We also hope that moving to the summer means more of our academic community will have time to attend.
