This workshop occurs on two days:
- Sunday, 1/19 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and
- Sunday, 2/2 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Day 1 of this course will cover a basic introduction to slab building to construct a slab hand built piece, using a mid-fire clay body (firing to cone 5-6). Students will be able add Decorative techniques using stamps, cookie cutters, and texture lace will be provided to use in the design. Students may also bring their own decorative tools, including but not limited to cookie cutters, lace etc., to create a personalized piece.
The second day of this course will take place two weeks later to allow drying and bisque fired prior to glazing. During the second day, the student will glaze their piece using premixed coyote, amaco or mayco glazes supplied by Gloria.
The pieces will then be kiln fired by the instructor and then the students will be called once the pieces are available to pick up at the store, within 1-2 weeks after glazing (the second day).
Students will develop a basic foundation in ceramic arts geared towards beginner through advanced skill level. Students can anticipate this course to be an introduction to the medium and guidance to create a finished product.

The students will leave the course with an understanding of clay as a medium, an understanding of the hand building technique, and glaze fired finished piece.
