Join us for an inspiring evening of spoken word and poetic expression at our Poetry Night, featuring Barbara Siegel Carlson and Scott Withiam. Each poet will share about 10 minutes of their work. Following the event, there will be time for book signing and mingling.


About Barbara

Barbara Siegel Carlson is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Current published by Lily Poetry Review Books, 2026. Her previous books are What Drifted Here, Once in Every Language, and Fire Road. She is the co-translator (with Ana Jelnikar) of Look Back, Look Ahead, Selected Poems of Srečko Kosovel. Her poetry and translations have appeared in On the Seawall, Verse Daily, Mid-American Review, Salamander, 2River, The Poetry Porch and other journals. Her poems have been nominated for Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize. Carlson is a Poetry in Translation Editor of Solstice: A Magazine of Diverse Voices. She lives in Carver, Massachusetts.

About Scott

Scott Withiam has published three books of poetry and a chapbook. His most recent book, Waste Management Facility, was released by MadHat Press in July 2025. Doors Out of the Underworld, was previously published by MadHat Press, and Arson & Prophets was published by Ashland Poetry Press. His chapbook, Desperate Acts & Deliveries, won the Two Rivers Review Prize. He has also received Ploughshares magazine’s Cohen Award. His most recent poems and prose pieces can be found in Another Chicago Magazine, Barrow Street, On the Seawall, Rattle, Tampa Review, Diagram, and Plume. Withiam grew up in upstate New York and moved to the Boston area in 1977. He taught public school math and college English and writing, and also counseled for non-profits. He is retired and now resides in Marblehead, MA, where he has quietly assumed his role of assuming good neighbors enjoy his daily practicing of drums.
