About this event
The Woman’s Club of Wisconsin and Boswell Book Company are delighted to host the exclusive Milwaukee appearance of the acclaimed author Marjan Karmali. This event will take place at The Woman’s Club of Wisconsin, 813 E Kilbourn Ave, and is open to the public.
From bestselling author Marjan Kamali comes The Lion Women of Tehran - a powerful new novel of friendship, betrayal, and redemption set against the backdrop of Iran’s fight for women’s rights.
In 1950s Tehran, Ellie and Homa form an unlikely bond - one from privilege, the other from hardship. As political unrest brews, their childhood friendship is tested by distance, ambition, and a life-altering betrayal that will echo for decades. Sweeping and heartfelt, this unforgettable story explores how the people we meet when we’re young shape us forever. “Reminiscent of The Kite Runner and My Brilliant Friend” (BookPage).
Marjan Kamali is the award-winning author of The Stationery Shop and Together Tea. Born in Turkey to Iranian parents, she has lived across five countries and holds degrees from UC Berkeley, Columbia, and NYU. In 2022, she received the National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Award.
