Frequently asked questions

I'm not in the food industry - can I still come early at 10:00am?

Our Industry-Only Sampling + Sales period is only for food-industry folks. That's distributors, buyers, grocers, chefs, food writers, etc. If you're not part of the food industry, then we look forward to seeing you when doors open to the general public at 11:30am!

Where should I enter Shelburne Farms to attend the Festival?

All Festival traffic will enter and exit through the south gate at 987 S Gate Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482. Please follow the event signage, plan for festival traffic, respect the speed limit of 25mph. Plan accordingly and leave time for exiting and entering.

Can I bring my dog?

While visiting dogs are *not* permitted on the Shelburne Farms property, trained service dogs are welcome.

Will vendors accept credit cards?

While many of our vendors accept credit cards, Wi-Fi and cell reception are never a guarantee in Vermont, and we encourage attendees to have a little cash on-hand for purchases. (How much? Only you know your true cheese limitations.)

Will I have to show ID or prove my age?

All attendees wishing to sample alcohol from our beer, wine, and spirit partners must show valid ID *at the Festival Entrance.* Although sampling will take place, there will be no alcohol sales at the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival. No alcohol from outside will be permitted.

I want to hang around awhile - how do I keep the cheese I buy cool?

If you’re a true curd nerd who’s already excited about your haul, you may wish to bring your own a refrigerated bag or a cooler. Vermont Cheesemakers Festival does not provide bags or refrigeration accessories for your cheese purchases.

Will there be food and beverage vendors?

Yes! While the festival celebrates Vermont cheesemakers, cheese is natural friends with many different things! There will be specialty pairings, food trucks, beverage vendors, and more!

Can I bring outside food and drink for picnicking?

While we love to see folks picnicking with their cheese hauls and other scrumptious items from the festival, please remember that *outside* food and drink *not* permitted.

I have a question not answered here - who can I contact?

Email us festival@vtcheese.com and we'll get back to you as soon as we are able!

Is the festival family friendly?

Children are welcome, but this is an adult-oriented event that may be crowded, loud, and disorienting. All children should be accompanied, and we recommend that infants and toddlers be carried or kept in strollers. There is not specific food offerings or programming for children at the Festival.
