Since their 2017 debut, New York’s Weeping Icon have cut their teeth creating their own signature blend of no-wave, post-punk, kraut, and doom-laden noise rock. Comprised of Lani Combier-Kapel, Sara Fantry, Sarah Reinold and Heather Elle, the four long time friends have maintained a particular NYC homegrown DIY and feminist ethos throughout their career, using lyrics, performances and instrument selections as opportunities to critique the power dynamics that dictate the status quo. Their sharp assessments of culture, deep intuitive bonds and unflinching raw power unleashed in their live performances have made them a go-to band to play with like-minded luminaries, including Downtown Boys, Protomartyr, Pissed Jeans, Bush Tetras, and Lydia Lunch. Lani and Sara sing about impending doom, burnout, and the depletion of resources, while the instrumentation creates lush layers of intense textures and walls of feedback to beat against our modern day hellscape - a fierce final plea against the inevitable consumerist collapse of society.
