The Industry 4.0 Accelerator (i4) helps accelerate the transformation of New Zealand’s manufacturing and technology sectors through targeted skills, capability and leadership education and workplace-based training programmes to support the adoption of digital technologies.

Industry 4.0 is happening now and we need to ensure our workforces have the digital skills and workplace cultures needed to thrive and grow.

Massey University, School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing, Block 5, Floor F, Room 07. Parking for attendees: pay and display parking is available for visitors at the King Street Car Park (off Adelaide Road) or the Museum Building, Entrance D.

The 4th Industrial Revolution is happening now, and technology is more advanced and accessible than it has ever been, but we need to ensure our current and future workforces have the skills and workplace cultures required to navigate this new world of cloud computing, online collaboration, Smart Factories and artificial intelligence that makes up Industry 4.0.In restarting the New Zealand economy, we know that the face of our manufacturing and processing industries is going to continue to rapidly change, and that Artificial Intelligence, Industrial IoT, Smart Machines &amp; Industrial Automation will become a major sources of not only innovation and recovery, but also significant contributors to both firm and supply chain resilience against future disruptions.We anticipate that as these emerging technologies continued to be adopted by our manufacturers, processors and primary industries, the composition and skill base for New Zealand’s electrical industry will also need to change dramatically over the next 2 years to meet demand.We don’t have all the answers, only a few bits of the puzzle so why not join-up and collectively ‘hack’ now to harness the creative destruction we are all experiencing now, and collectively assist in the recovery and transformation of manufacturing, processing, engineering and electrical industries through digital skill development.Venue: School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing, Block 5, Floor F, Room 07.There is plenty of parking for attendees on King Street (access off Adelaide Road) @ $2 dollars an hour or $8 for the day.Approach the Day - Intention is to run three activities:#1 “I’ve been thinking” (Panel Sessions): Share insights from people at the coal face of:<ul><li>Voice of Industry: Thoughts on emerging technologies and trends in Artificial Intelligence, Industrial IoT, Smart Machines &amp; Industrial Automation, and their related skill requirements/gaps.</li></ul><ul><li>Learning Innovations: Insights and Opportunities for Innovation in Digital Skill Training/Learning Pathways that could be used to close the digital skill gap (e.g. work-integrated learning, industry certifications, micro-credentials etc)</li></ul>#2 Ideate (Break Out Groups): Break into working group to come up with some ideas on how to move the needle forward on digital upskilling, reskilling and transformation, then present back to the room.#3 Hack a Solution: From the working group ideas, run a vote and pick one idea to then ‘hack’ into a solution that attendees can join-up on and collaborate to move forward over the following 90 Days.This is a working session focused on effecting outcomes, so will be a closed event by invitation only, with a brow bag lunch and post hack refreshments provided!
