So let us toast in celebration of love, friendship and music! "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" (“Let's drink from the joyful cups") opens our concert this evening. Composed by Giuseppe Verdi, this famous aria is from one of the most well-loved operas of all times, La Traviata, and is a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brindisi_(music)" title="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brindisi_(music)" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">brindisi</a> - a lively song that encourages the drinking of wine or other alcoholic beverages. We approve.Following the grand opening, we bring to you an evening of songs we love and we sincerely hope you will enjoy them too. Repertoire such as Nessun Dorma and La bohème scenes from the great masters - Bach, Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, and the gang and not forgetting musical theater lovers of Les Misérables and West Side Story. Collier has performed at venues across the country, from school concert halls to the Esplanade. He has experience performing both solo and with other musicians, and across a myriad of genres from classical to jazz.Ally Tan, SopranoAlly currently sings with Ya Ge Chorale and will be performing in Sarawak, Malaysia in September. An active member of SLO, her recent projects include the portrayal of Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte in SLO's Chorus in Concert.Marcus Chan, BassAs founder of our society, Marcus is a highly experienced singer with the SLO and SSC. His recent projects include the portrayal of Don Alfonso in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte in Chorus in Concert, Cavalleria Rusticana &amp; Pagliacci and as a soloist in Dedications.Raj Masillamoni, TenorAn opera connoisseur, Raj is a fervent advocate of opera, oratorio and all classical music. He recently portrayed the role of Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte in Chorus in Concert. With years of experience singing with some of the best choral groups in Singapore such as Singapore Youth Choir and SLO, Raj will dazzle this evening with his beautiful lyrical tenor voice in the most famous musical theatre tunes of all times and known to all football fans, 'You' ll Never Walk Alone'.Chen Ying Jie, SopranoActively involved in choirs since Secondary and Junior College days, Ying Jie has sung as a chorus member with The Singapore Symphony Chorus, Singapore Lyric Opera Chorus and in various recitals as a soloist. She also conducts, directs, yells backstage and loves the camaraderie, chaos and mayhem that come along with the arts and productions.Lim Ming Jie, Mezzo-SopranoMing Jie is a mezzo-soprano who first started singing at the age of 16 under Stella Zhou, performing not only in Singapore, but in Malaysia and Japan. She has also sung with the Singapore Lyric Opera chorus for over 10 years; she has performed in many operas, and has been involved in various SLO outreach programs such as Opera in the Park and Chorus in Concert.Li Yizhe, BaritonePossessing a rich and resounding baritone voice, Yizhe has been studying with Mr Huang Ronghai since 2020. Discovering his love for music whilst singing with the National University of Singapore choir, Yizhe has subsequently performed in several SLO opera productions such as Carmen and Cavalleria rusticana/Paglicacci and as a soloist in recitals such as Chorus in Concerts and Dedications.Mik Rossi, TenorMik is an Italian blooded tenor. He studied and is studying with M° Enrico Gavarini. An active member of the Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) Chorus, Mik will be playing the title role of Giacomo Puccini in SLO’s Puccini’s Women Gala Concert coming 19 October 2024.Sarah Tang, SopranoA gymnast, dancer and musician, Sarah is passionate about using music as a vehicle for human connection and stories. Specially selected to perform with the International cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat when she was just 12, multi-talented Sarah sings actively with the SSC and New Opera Singapore.
