Join us as a volunteer to paint a street mural that will span the pedestrian areas of the 14th Street Busway from Union Square West to Broadway.
What to Expect
Volunteers must sign up for a full 3-hour shift (more than one shift is welcome), using this event page.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will be required to sign an NYC Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) liability waiver to participate.
Volunteers will report at their scheduled time to the Union Square Partnership welcome tent along 14th Street at Union Square’s South Plaza (opposite Whole Foods) to check-in.
Press will be onsite taking photographs, so by participating in the event you are agreeing to have your likeness used in media + promotional materials.
A refreshment table will include complimentary energy bars and bottled water throughout the day.
How to Prepare
Volunteers will be provided with all the necessary supplies to paint, including a commemorative volunteer t-shirt, gloves, rollers, and brushes, and volunteers will receive directions from the artists and production team.
We recommend wearing lightweight clothing, and comfortable shoes, which may get splattered with non-washable paint. It is recommended that you wear a cap and sunglasses, and use sunscreen for protection from the sun.
Please do NOT bring bags and/or valuables with you as there is no storage on site. USP and our event partners are NOT responsible for any damage to clothing or items you bring on-site that day.
In the case of inclement weather, USP will notify volunteers of any schedule changes. To learn more about USP's 2021 mural, click here.
