Registration is open for VitalTalk's Faculty Development September 2017/May 2018 course! Please read through the below information thoroughly before enrolling - thanks!

Course Dates:

Session 1: 09/07/2017-09/08/2017

Session 2: 05/18/2018-05/19/2018

Tuition: $4500 for both sessions (50% down payment of $2250 due upon registration)

Course Description: A unique train-the-trainer faculty development program for physicians and/or advance practice providers who are committed to becoming communication educators—and want to become VitalTalk faculty! The program involves a 2 day face-to-face workshop, distance learning, and a consolidation 2 day face-to-face workshop. You need to commit to the entire program to attend. Upon completion of the course, you’ll be ready to teach and host a 1 day communication course that focuses on skills for early palliative care discussion and a late palliative care discussion (the ‘goals of care’ talk) using simulated patients. Also included in the course is a two year license agreement which allows you to receive the latest versions of our teaching maps, simulated patient cases and facilitation guides that won’t be available on our website. We're aiming this course primarily at physicians who could run a short workshop for their Palliative Care fellowship program. Finally, we encourage 2-person teams because the co-mentorship accelerates your development.

The course will take place in two separate two day course sessions to allow for optimized learning and practice between sessions.

Session 1: Arrive the evening of 9/06/2017, the immersive course will take place on 9/07/2017 and 9/08/2017. Depart 9/09/2017.

Session 2: Same schedule as session 1 with arrival date of 05/17/2018 and departure date of 05/20/2017.

Tuition Details: The total tuition is $4500 and includes both September and May sessions, plus distance learning. In addition to the in-person courses and distance learning, this tuition includes all course materials, a two year license agreement, 3 days lodging/session, course day breakfasts, lunches and dinners. 50% tuition is due upon registration for the course. Full tuition is due no later than 60 days prior to the course. We do have a strict cancellation policy outlined in the FAQs below. Please review this policy before signing up.

Prerequisite requirement: We have found that faculty who have experienced VitalTalk learning methods have a much easier time acquiring key teaching skills. The Faculty Development course is concentrated and moves quickly, and faculty who are completely new to our work have generally felt that they would have done better to have been a learner in a face-to-face VitalTalk skills course first (eg Oncotalk, Pallitalk, IntensiveTalk, Vitaltalk Mastering Tough Conversations, AAHPM-Vitaltalk 1-day pre-conference course, American Cancer Society-Vitaltalk course, Hospice of Cincinnati Conversations of a Lifetime-Vitaltalk, Oregon Health Leadership-Vitaltalk, and other regional courses led by VitalTalk trained faculty). We are willing to consider other experiences, so if you haven't been to one of these courses, and still want to enroll in the FD course, please contact us by email.

You will be asked to provide your pre-requisite information upon application, which will be reviewed for suitability. If you have questions please e-mail us at info@vitaltalk.org.

What Else Do I need to know: Please review our course FAQs (including our cancellation policy) before enrolling.
