The EEG Research Pipeline: A Hands-On Bootcamp From Task Design to Analysis

Designed for PhD students and early career researchers, "The EEG Research Pipeline" is a two-day, hands-on bootcamp that provides a foundational understanding of the complete EEG research process. On Day 1, led by the PsychoPy team, you will receive hands-on training in experimental design and reproducible research, covering core concepts, stimulus presentation, and hardware integration. Day 2, led by ANT Neuro experts, will guide you through practical EEG setup, data collection with provided templates, and a step-by-step analysis of the resulting data. The bootcamp is designed to provide attendees with the essential skills to take an experiment from initial design to data analysis, bridging the gap between cognitive task creation and ERP outcomes.

About the speakers

Dr. Rebecca Hirst, Chief Science Officer - Open Science Tools

Becca Hirst is Chief Science Officer at Open Science Tools, where she supports scientists in designing and implementing experiments across lab-based and online settings. Her research focuses on multisensory perception across the lifespan. She earned her PhD from the University of Nottingham and currently holds a postdoctoral research position at Trinity College Dublin, alongside her leadership role at Open Science Tools.


Dr. Kim Dundas, Science Officer - Open Science Tools

Kim Dundas is a Science Officer at Open Science Tools, where she advises researchers on integrating hardware—including EEG, eye-tracking, fMRI, and more—into their behavioural studies. Her own research focuses on ambiguous motion perception. She earned her PhD from the University of Keele.


Dr. Andrew James Hanson, Scientific Sales Account Manager - ANT Neuro UK

Andrew has over a decade of experience in academic EEG research and scientific consultancy. He holds a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from Newcastle University, where he independently developed semi-automated analysis pipelines for EEG data quality assessment. Andrew has a strong background in experimental design across a wide range of fields (visual, auditory, cognitive, and clinical). He is a strong advocate for EEG-VR research and is passionate about multi-modal approaches. Currently, Andrew is a Scientific Account Manager at ANT Neuro, where he combines his expertise in EEG technology with a consultancy mindset to support and expand EEG and neuro-navigation research portfolios across the UK.
