About this event

The art and practice of the amen effect

mending hearts through creativity

an interactive series using The Jewish Studio Process

Sunday afternoons May 5 and/or May 12

3-5 pm PT in-person! (Pico/Robertson location provided upon registration)

Explore, enhance, and embody your personal understanding and relationship with the insights in Rabbi Sharon Brous's book the Amen Effect.

With the Amen Effect as our iyun / עיון / focus, and using The Jewish Studio Process as our method, we'll embark on a creative discovery of our humanity. We’ll renew self-compassion, activate our values, and answer an open invitation for self-reflection.

The Jewish Studio Process invites you to experience the art studio as a house of inquiry and a community sanctuary. In this creative process workshop you can expand your sense of being with others. You might see yourself from a different direction and gently ask 'what's going on?'

We hope you'll join us IN-PERSON.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Jewish Studio Process?

The Jewish Studio Process is a unique methodology that combines practices from the field of art therapy with ancient Jewish wisdom. The Process involves hands, heart, and mind and cultivates curiosity, openness, and resilience. Learn more https://bit.ly/TheJewishStudioProcess

I haven't read 'The Amen Effect' yet. Should I come?

Yes — you totally should. Now understand, this isn't a book club and there's no requirement to have first read the Amen Effect. But you'll get a lot more out of the workshop if you do. Maybe you'd like to listen to the audiobook? Rabbi Brous reads it to you! Learn more https://bit.ly/TheAmenEffect

I loved 'the Amen Effect,' but why would I do this? I'm not artistic.

You might not be 'artistic,' but you are creative. And that idea is a foundation of the Jewish Studio Process. We're created in the image of Gd, so we're created creative! While we'll be using color and art materials, the JSP methodology can be applied to any media. Even creative accounting.
