In short, Juneteenth (Emancipation Day, Independence Day, Freedom Day), is a holiday in the United States that commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the confederate south, and more broadly the emancipation of all African-American slaves. Celebrated on June 19, this holiday is currently recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance in most states. Juneteenth Miami held its 1st Annual Freedom Fry & Music Festival in 2014 featuring authentic Black-American food from Carolina (Gullah Geechie), Tennesse (BBQ), New Orleans (Seafood), Georgia (Soul Food), our world famous FREEDOM PUNCH, music, and art with over 1,000 diverse guest in attendance, making it Miami’s largest Juneteenth celebration. In 2016, we plan to continue the legacy of this glorious holiday in the heart of the City of Miami Gardens.

Features: Visual art, food, music, and family fun activities in celebration of our core American value, Freedom. Live bands perform a collection of fun and spirited music with poets, artistic works, and motivational speaking focused on the celebration of Miami’s unique diversity and freedom. The festival also provides a children area with arts-and-crafts, interactive projects, and educational fun.

Attendance: This event attracted over 1,000 domestic and non-domestic attendees throughout its duration. Our attendees included children, college students, professionals, and young adults. The largest segment of attendees were between the ages of 21-40 of varying demographic backgrounds.
