About this event

Please join us for this online discussion about the Octopus multi-arm, multi-stage treatment trial for multiple sclerosis, and STIMULATE-ICP, a multi-arm, multi-site study aiming to develop an integrated care pathway and testing of repurposed drugs in people with long COVID. We will look at what lessons can be learnt for clinical research in ME/CFS particularly for drug repurposing studies.

This is the second in a series of online workshops on clinical research in ME/CFS. The workshops are connected with the Research Working Group set up by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration. The workshops aim to raise the profile of ME/CFS clinical research, increase collaboration, attract new researchers and formulate research priorities in this area of huge unmet need.

Programme

This is an online discussion between

Professor Harm van Marwijk, Professor in General Practice at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and

Professor Jeremy Chataway, Professor of Neurology at University College London and Chief Investigator for the OCTOPUS multi-arm, multi-stage treatment trial for progressive Multiple Sclerosis. https://ms-octopus.mrcctu.ucl.ac.uk/

Professor Amitava Banerjee, Professor in Clinical Data Science at University College London and Chief Investigator for the STIMULATE-ICP, a multi-site study of long COVID, which includes evaluation of current care, development of an integrated care pathway, repurposing drugs trial, and examining health inequalities in long COVID. https://www.stimulate-icp.org

In order to stimulate discussion we want to attract a wide range of researchers and health care workers both from within and outside the field of ME/CFS care and research. Although the workshops are primarily aimed at researchers and clinicians, we encourage people with ME/CFS and their carers to attend to share their views.

To enable the discussion to flow smoothly, we ask that you email questions in advance to octopus-conversation@serafina3.me.uk

Wherever possible, we will incorporate your questions into the discussion. You can email questions whether or not you intend to attend the event. There will also be an opportunity for questions at the end of the discussion.
