CARB-X and BioLabs Team Up Against Super Bugs

CARB-X, a global public-private partnership devoted to combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR), is teaming up with BioLabs San Diego to host a discussion for companies and researchers in the AMR space in the greater San Diego area. Among the first projects in the Powered by CARB-X Portfolio are two San Diego companies, Forge Therapeutics and Cidara Therapeutics, who together may bring in as much as $15M in CARB-X funding over the next 2 to 3 years. Zak Zimmerman, CEO of Forge, and Neil Abdollahian, Chief Business Officer at Cidara, will talk about their funded projects and the benefits of the CARB-X support model. They will be joined by Heather Shane, Executive Director of the west coast CARB-X accelerator, who will moderate discussion and describe how CARB-X is carrying out its mission to accelerate preclinical development of a diverse portfolio of high-quality products to address the global threat of AMR.

San Diego is home to a dense cluster of companies and researchers in the antimicrobial space. For this reason, San Diego was chosen as a logical first location to connect the community and promote the CARB-X funding opportunity. The goal of this event is to bring the greater San Diego and LA area AMR community together to learn about the program and enjoy a networking reception.
