Description

Celebrate National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) on April 20th, 2017 with a FREE screening of the documentary “Being Mortal” hosted by End of Life Choices New York and Mavencare Home Care Services.

About NHDD:

Did you know that 90% of Americans know they should have conversations about end-of-life care, yet only 30% have done so? National Healthcare Decisions Day aims to inspire, educate, and empower the public and eldercare providers about the importance of advance care planning.

About the Film:

“Being Mortal” follows the renowned Dr. Atul Gawande as he sheds light on how a medical system focused on a cure often avoids sensitive conversations that need to happen so an individual’s true wishes can be known and honored at the end of life.

Join the Discussion:

Following the screening, attendees are invited to participate in a panel discussion on how to identify and take practical steps to communicate wishes about end-of-life goals and preferences.

The panel will feature:

She is an expert on ethical issues relating to patient self-determination and informed end of life decision-making.
