Feeling Past Fear: Understanding Self and Others Through Stories

Milwaukee native Irma Preuser Morter-Rolfing (1908-2000) lived life as a grand adventure. Irma savored the works of philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius and Plato. Believing in the necessity of people taking responsibility for their communities and working together, Irma Morter made a bequest to First Church in support of a lecture series on topics related to "Individual Responsibility'. Individual Responsibility is found in the decisions we make and our behavior towards others, by acknowledging that we are all accountable for the things we do and the attitudes we adopt.  Responsible acts aim for intentional promotion of the good in every sphere of our lives.

<P>The workshop facilitators are Arno Michaelis, founder and former member of the world's largest skinhead organization and Pardeep Kaleka, whose father was killed by a white supremacist in the attack on the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek. They have coauthored a book on compassion, and formed Serve2Unite, an organization that works to create compassionate dialogue and develop peacemakers in our schools and community. In this workship you can experience first-hand the skills and benefits of compassionate listening.</P>
