The Franklin Neighborhood Development Corporation (FNDC), in partnership with the Sacramento Office of Arts and Culture, has commissioned local artists to create a community-based mural on the 21st Avenue underpass of Highway 99.
Add your brushstrokes alongside local artists, connect with community members, and help paint a collaborative mural on the 21st Ave Underpass. The mural is a paint-by-number design and you'll be supported by the artists, Jaya King (jayasart.com) and Uli Smith (paintbyuli.com).

About the Project
These murals’ objective is to help create a more welcoming environment along a key walking route between South Oak Park, North City Farms, and the Franklin District, and to and from Ethel Phillips Elementary School, and to help reconnect these neighborhoods that were cut off by the construction of Highway 99 in the 1960s.
After review of the applications and interviews with three finalists, the panel selected the artist team of Jaya King (jayasart.com) and Uli Smith (paintbyuli.com) to lead the new murals on the 21st Avenue underpass of Hwy 99 and on the wall of Manix Auto Repair on 21st Avenue. A community mural project allows an artist to collaborate with a community to achieve a result neither the artist nor the community could have achieved on their own.
The new murals are the first phase of the 21st Avenue Beautification Project, a partnership with the City of Sacramento, and supported by Clean California grant funding from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Sobre el Proyecto
El objetivo de estos murales es ayudar a crear un ambiente más acogedor a lo largo de una ruta peatonal clave entre South Oak Park, North City Farms y el distrito de Franklin, y hacia y desde la escuela primaria Ethel Phillips, y ayudar a reconectar estos vecindarios que quedaron aislados por la construcción de la Carretera 99 en la década de 1960.
Después de revisar las solicitudes y entrevistas con tres finalistas, el panel seleccionó al equipo de artistas de Jaya King (jayasart.com) and Uli Smith (paintbyuli.com) para dirigir los nuevos murales en el paso subterráneo de 21st Avenue de Hwy 99 y en la pared de Manix Auto Repair en 21st Avenue.
