Program Overview

We are thrilled to offer the East Coast Academy this year during New York Energy Week and for the first time at Barnard College in New York City!

This intensive "business bootcamp" is a mandatory part of the Cleantech Open accelerator for semifinalist teams, and provides them with the fundamental skills necessary to grow their startups and get the most out of the remainder of the accelerator.

The semifinalist teams who attend the Academy represent some of the most innovative cleantech ideas in the country, and the event brings together a wealth of resources that help our teams improve their business models, network with mentors and speakers, and connect to the broader NYC community.

Beyond the excellent set of speakers we’ve lined up, the Academy also includes a working “mentor afternoon” on the second day, where semifinalist teams get a chance to work with mentors one-on-one. Cleantech Open Mentors are encouraged to attend a private mentor lunch from 12-1:30pm on the 18th, preceding the mentor afternoon.

At the end of our programming on the 18th, participants are encouraged to attend the New York Energy Week Startup Showcase and Demo Day happening the night of the 18th in downtown Manhattan!

All photos will be taken by Lyle Shanahan, please contact him at lyleshanahan@gmail.com if you're interested in having him at one your events!

We will not be providing transportation to the event, and recommend that attendees take public transportation.

There are several ways to participate in the Startup Showcase:

1) Request to attend this event here - general admission is by invite only and there are limited tickets available

2) Based on applications received, 14 semifinalist teams have been chosen to poster! Check them out at the event.

How to get there: The recommended route is to take the Subway Line 1 (towards South Ferry Loop) from the 116th St Columbia University stop to the Chambers Street stop and from there it is a quick walk down Broadway to the venue. Here's the Google Map route for your reference.
